SPEEDSTRS TO MAKE FIRST APPEARANCE AT GRANDVIEW
MODIFIEDS AND LATE MODELS IN TIGHT POINT RACE

BECHTELSVILLE, PA MAY 29, 2008 . . . The new Richie Tobias created SpeedSTRS will be making their first appearance at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, May 31st as part of a tripleheader show that also includes the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and Late Models. The night of exciting racing will be sponsored by Arnoldís Fun Center of Oaks.
The SpeedSTRS, similar to the popular midget race cars but sporting a spoiler, will have six time Grandview Modified champion Craig VonDohren testing his skills in one. Veteran Modified racer Tom Mayberry, winner of 37 features at Grandview, will be in another. And NASCAR Sprint Cup car owner Ray Everham (he is part owner of the Budweiser Dodge driven by Kasey Kahne), a former Modified racer, will be in his own SpeedSTR as will his son Will according to present plans.
Current Modified stocks point leader Duane Howard will continue his battle for the lucrative track and NASCAR point championship money. Jeff Strunk is currently second in the standings just 68 points behind. Doug Manmiller holds down third with 1657 counters. Both Manmiller and Strunk have yet to visit victory lane while Howard has been there three times.
In the Late Models Chuck Schutz is trying for a third title and currently holds a 111 point edge over defending champion Brian Shuey. Close behind is Randy Stoudt. The Late Models have been presenting some very exciting racing action featuring full starting fields for the 20-lap main events.
Close to 50 NASCAR 358 Modified racers and more than two dozen Late Models are expected to see action on Saturday night when racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m.
Square One Markets and Cornerstone Auto Sales, in a special promotion through the Grandview Groove track magazine, will be giving away $25 gas cards to a number of lucky fans. These giveaways have proved to be very popular with fans and will happen on a weekly basis.
In addition one lucky youngster will be chosen to go down to victory lane and be photographed with a feature winner as part of a Racerís Roundtable radio show promotion. This will be a weekly promotion.
This will also be the final weekend that fans can enter the BPG Racing/Grandview Speedway contest that will see the June 14th URC Sprint, NASCAR Modified and 600 Modified tripleheader named after one of them. Fans are invited to send a letter outlining why they feel a race night should be named after them. Letters should be directed to Esaxton144@aol.com or faxed to 215.752-1518.
The winner and invited guests will be able to watch the events on June 14th from an air conditioned sponsor suite, be photographed in victory lane, have all advertising and publicity carry their name and much more. It will definitely be a night to remember for that lucky fan.
The May 31st Arnoldís Fun Center of Oaks Night, featuring the SpeedSTRS, Modifieds and Late Models, will have a $13 adult admission fee. Youngsters 6 through 11 pay just $5 and children under 6 are admitted free when accompanied by a paying adult. There is free parking on the grounds of the speedway and fans are free to bring their own refreshments (no glass bottles) or enjoy the wide array of concessions available at the track.
Grandview Speedway does offer non-alcoholic beverage seating and every seat offers a grand view.
Coming up on Tuesday, June 3rd is the exciting Thunder on the Hill doubleheader program featuring the United States Auto Club wingless sprints and the American Racing Drivers Club wingless midgets. This event drew rave reviews in 2007 and is expected to be equally or even more exciting when the racing action gets the green flag at 7:30 p.m.
The one-third-mile, banked clay oval is located on Passmore Road just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For information telephone 610.754.7688 or check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com.
