RAIN WASHES OUT SATURDAY NIGHT STOCK CAR RACING AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA May 17, 2008 . . . For the first time this season rain washed out the Arnold’s Kart Center Night tripleheader card of stock car racing action at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night.
“We held off hoping that the heavier rain would not come,” said track promoter Bruce Rogers. “Once the heavy rain hit and with another session of rain headed our way later in the evening we figured it was just best to pack it in for the night. We just did not feel it was fair to keep fans and racers hanging around and not being sure we would be able to get the track in shape even if the rain had stopped.”
The NASCAR Late Models will be in the limelight when stock car racing returns to Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, May 24th. A 25-lap feature will pay at least $1,000 to the winner with all finishing positions in the feature carrying increased prize money.
Track employee Mark Garman has worked overtime in putting together an impressive list of sponsors who have posted the extra money for the feature and also for a variety of special awards to be given out during the Late Model event.
A special “Grandview Gauntlet” series of match races will see a number of Late Model racers battling it out for the top spot.
In addition the NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be in action as part of the Jeff D’Ambrosio Dodge Night. A full series of qualifying events will be presented for the Modifieds topped by a 30-lap feature starting at least 28 cars.
All rain checks for the rained out May 17th races will be honored for this event.
Before the Saturday night action takes place the Keystone Cup Speed Week Series featuring the 410 Sprint cars and American Racing Drivers Club Wingless Midgets in action is set for Wednesday, May 21st at 7:30 p.m. Many of the top names in Sprint Car racing are expected to see action in the 410 Sprint segment of the show.
Coming up on Saturday May 31st will be Arnold’s Kart Center of Oaks, PA Night featuring the NASCAR 358 Modifieds, Late Models and the new Speedsters. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m.
Grandview Speedway is located on Passmore Road, just off Route 100 in Bechtelsville, PA, 10 miles north of Pottstown. For race information telephone 610.754.7688 or check in at www.grandviewspeedway.com.
